I think there about $25 a day. or weekend..
best thing to do is find a friend who has one. Or if your gonna be pulling motors once in a while in the future. Go buy one, there about $160 if you search around..

Buy one. I bought one for 180 and my friend and I assembled it in like 20 mins. It can be disassembled.

I have used it for more than engine swaps. Hold up the backend while I did work, remove trannies, and lifting heavy things in general. Its not just an "engine" hoist.

Look in the phone book for rental places if you are set on getting a rented one.

If you want to save a couple of dollars, don't know if you are aware of this or not, but you can just as easily drop the motor from the bottom of the car. Just take the radiator out. That's the way I have done my last 4 honda cars Yes I know.. but I am cheap like that

how can i drop it out the bottom without a lift ? that sounds pretty dangerous to me.
also,i can remove the tranny with the motor all at once,right ? are there any clearance problems with anything i should know about.

I opened up my trunk to connect the hoist to the latch on the frame. I lifted up the car cuz my jack wouldnt fit under my car (no wheels... long story)

It comes in handy.

Removing the engine from under the car... Do you just lower the car down onto another engine and then wrestle w/ it to fit the mounts?? How does this happen? Im curious.
